Large iconic Art Deco sculpture of the elephant “Dolly” in white crackled earthenware.

The sculpture was designed by Lejan, one of the most famous French Art Deco animal sculptors.

Lejan worked for various French ceramic manufacturers, including Orchies. The sculpture was therefore made in France in the 1930s.

The name “Dolly” is inscribed on the bottom left of the pedestal and the name of the artist, “Lejan”, is inscribed on the pedestal under the hind legs.
