Pair of French bronze Rococo candlesticks from the Napoleon III period (second half of the 19th century).
These candlesticks are in the typical Meissonnier style with decorations in rocaille motifs and natural elements such as flowers and leaves. The candlesticks have a flowing, twisted stem and an asymmetrical base.
Juste-Aurèle Meissonnier (1695 – 1750) was a prominent goldsmith, silversmith, and designer at the court of Louis XV. His designs are known for their extravagant and asymmetrical Rococo style.
The candlesticks are in very good condition with signs of age and use. They come with matching candle sconces.
