Eric GOEDE
1948
Eric Goede (b. 1948) initially trained as a teacher in Amsterdam and then studied art in Culemborg. He began his artistic career as a painter, draughtsman and teacher and taught in Culemborg, at the Volksuniversiteit Utrecht and at an artists’ cooperative. In 1995 he decided to devote himself entirely to sculpture.
Eric Goede stands with open eyes in the world and sees especially the amazing side of life. With a good dose of humor, he dissects human movement and captures it with graceful lines in bronze. In doing so, he not only abstracts, he also accentuates parts of the human with which the movement is made. It gives his sculptures a certain nimbleness that continues to amaze. It is clear from his works that the artist enjoys life and with his sculptures he wants to share his joyful zest for life with the world.
Eric Goede’s bronze sculptures are finished and patinated by himself. His sculptures are smooth, emphasizing the frozen movement while the refined patinas accentuate tactility. In his work he seeks the limits of what is still possible, the balance, how slender strength can be, how abstraction can still express feeling. These challenges spur Eric into ever new adventures in his sculpture.
His works are included in many private collections, at home and abroad.
