Antique French garden bell jar or ‘cloche de jardin’ in hand blown glass with ‘bouton’ top.

The ones with the top are much harder to find reasonably intact  because the tops often get taken off so the farmer can stack them better and safer.

Previously, these garden bells were used to protect tender seedlings from frost and to speed growth.

Today they are used in the living room as an eye-catcher, or in the kitchen to cover cheese boards, pastries…etc.

The cloche is in perfect condition and the patina is consistent with age and its use in the garden.
